Week 4 – Scripture in the Walls

Week 4 – It doesn’t always look like it in the pictures from a far, but the crews have gotten a LOT done this week.  The work this week has focused on getting everything in between the studs and above the ceiling that need to be there, so we can get it inspected and get ready to put on sheet rock next week!  SPC mechanical has put up a ton of duct work for our HVAC system.  Pitt Electric has been wiring all of our outlets and switches.  And Jeff Haddock Plumbing has installed the pipes in the wall for all of our sinks, etc.  At the end of the week, my wife and I took some time to adorn the wood blocking with Scripture verses.  We wanted to meditate on the lessons, and mark the building with permanent reminders of what we are to be about.

Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
    and do not lean on your own understanding.
 In all your ways acknowledge him,
    and he will make straight your paths.”

Psalm 127:1a

“Unless the Lord builds the house,
    those who build it labor in vain.”

Proverbs 24:27

“Prepare your work outside;
    get everything ready for yourself in the field,
    and after that build your house.”

Proverbs 24:33-34

“A little sleep, a little slumber,
    a little folding of the hands to rest,
and poverty will come upon you like a robber,
    and want like an armed man.”

Micah 6:8

“He has told you, O man, what is good;
    and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
    and to walk humbly with your God?”

Hebrews 13:5

“Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have,

for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.””

Deuteronomy 6:4-5,9

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might….You shall write these words on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

Psalm 34:4a

“I sought the Lord, and he answered me.”

Colossians 3:23-24

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,….You are serving the Lord Christ.”
